Kjento and Lantanas now also approved for Hanover

Yesterday a special approval was organized for older stallions at the Hanoverian Studbook in Verden.

Kjento, s. Negro x Jazz bred by the van Os family from Sprang Capelle, who recently won the stallion presentation at the KWPN stallion inspection in Ermelo, was presented here by Charlotte Fry. Again this stallion impressed with his generous model and great movements.

Lantanas, the son of Sir Donnerhall out of a Hemmingway mother bred by S. Kleuskens from Horst, was also presented here by Lottie and showed that much can be expected of him for the future.

Both stallions are now approved for Hannover and are now also allowed to breed Hanoverian mares.

Watch a short video of Lantanas of this day here.

Kjento leading sire KWPN dressage foals.

The KWPN announced the number of foals born in 2020. New in this list is the black eye-catcher Kjento, by Negro x Jazz, bred by the Van Os family from Sprang Capelle, who presented his first crop off foals this year. Kjento recently showed his Grand Prix talent during the KWPN Stallion show and won the class for five-year-olds with 90 points. This was also the highest score of all categories. Last year numerous of his foals were sold for record prices at numerous auctions.

The Grand Prix stallion Glamourdale, Lord Leatherdale x Negro bred by mr. J.W. Rodenburg from Kouderkerk a.d. IJssel, KWPN horse of the year 2020 and World Champion for 7-year-old dressage horses is 4th on this list.

The influence of Negro in the top 4 is big, because he is also in the pedigree of the number 3 in the list, Jameson RS2 v. Zack x Negro.

NRPS stallionshow 2021

Last Thursday and Friday the NRPS stallion inspection took place in Ermelo. Off course Van Olst Horses was present here to present some stallions.

Among the show jumpers there was an invitation for the performance test for Arthur T Z, a son off Andiamo out of a mare by Q. Breitling LS. This stallion is bred and co-owned with Stoeterij Tommelberg from Loenhout, Belgium.

No less than 4 dressage stallions were accepted on Friday:

  • Nadal, Especial x Negro. Especial is a special son off Everdale who is currently 7 years old and classified at ZZ-licht level. Nadal was bred by Van Olst Horses out of the “Ster” mare Fresia who is also the mother of the NRPS approved Irvin s. Inspire and Evegro s. Everdale.
  • No Mercy AVO, s. Just Wimphof x Jazz, was bred by Jan and Ans van Oort from Volkel out of the same damm line as the famous stallion Ferdinand. This black eye-catcher stands out with its beautiful model.
  • Nacho, Negro x Krack C, was bred by S. Maakenschijn from Chaam and is a very striking young stallion. The comparison with Everdale is quickly made and this young stallion seems to have all the potential to become a very good sport horse in the future.
  • Nino d’Ór, Painted Black x Chippendale, is bred and owned by Berry van der Hoorn from Made. This brown son of Painted Black, who is also available at our station via frozen semen this year, was able to convince the judges and was given an invitation for the performance test.

Successful auction “The Young Ones”

The last virtual hammer just fell during the Young Ones auction. From the group of three-year-old geldings out of the Van Olst breeding program, 7 better horses were selected and auctioned this evening.

With a total turnover of € 108.500,- and an average price of € 15.500,- these horses were sold for a good price.

The most expensive two horses in the auction are both by Inclusive, the most expensive of the evening being the gelding Nico. For the nice amount of € 27,000, this gelding moves to a dressage stable in the Netherlands.

Nike D is also sold to a Dutch rider who previously bought a horse through the Van Olst Sales. In addition to these 2 horses, 2 more were sold within the Netherlands and the other horses were sold to France, the United States and Germany.

Collaboration Care4Mare, Dier-N-artsen & Van Olst Horses

Care4Mare, Dier-N-artsen and Van Olst Horses have started a partnership that will take effect immediately.

The home base for this joint collaboration is the Care4Mare company based in Molenschot (Noord Brabant). This company specializes in the care and gynecological support of mares. Care4Mare has a large number of its own surrogate mares and is well equipped with, among other things, stabling options for guest mares. The company is located on the A58, near the Bavel exit (1 km from the exit).

Until recently, Hengstenhouderij Van Olst kept the mares of its customers at its own company in Den Hout, but from now on these guest mares will be housed at Care4Mare in Molenschot.

The stallions of Van Olst Horses will remain in Den Hout and the semen will, as usual, be sent from Den Hout.

Dier-N-artsen (Oosteind), led by Drs. Rijk-Jan Pleijter has been the attending  vet practice at Hengstenhouderij Van Olst for many years. In addition to regular mare guidance, they are highly experienced and specialized in embryo transplantation and other modern reproductive techniques. Dier-N-artsen will take care of the entire mare supervision at Care4Mare and may expand with the possibilities that the new collaboration offers.

New auction horses online

The new collection of auction horses is now online and can be viewed at www.vanolstsales.online. A group of interesting young geldings who are all at the beginning of their dressage career. All horses are still untrained, but have already been handled. If you want more information about these horses, please contact the organization via info@vanolstsales.online.

Studbook inspection Den Hout

Yesterday a studbook inspection took place at Van Olst Horses in Den Hout, where 13 horses were presented, of which 10 became stars. Among these horses there were also offspring of the stallion Inclusive (s. Everdale x Uptown, breeder fam Enting from Grolloo). Since many of these horses have a dam line with too few predicates and / or sport, it was not worth the investment to prepare them for the stallion inspection.

Six of these geldings were presented where 5 of them received ‘ster’, whereby the horse that did not become a ‘ster’ managed to achieve 80 points for the movement. Since a ‘ster’ ‘statement’ is the same as an invitation to the 2nd round of the stallionshow, 5 horses would appear in the second round viewing.
