Exciting “photo finish” for Glamourdale and Zonik Plus in Freestyle

It was a joy to watch the World Cup Grand Prix during The Dutch Masters in ’s-Hertogenbosch. The anticipated duel between two impressive black stallions turned out to be particularly exciting.
The KWPN-approved Glamourdale (Lord Leatherdale out of Thuja stb pref prest by Negro, bred by Joop Rodenburg) was the first of the two black stallions to enter the arena. He is the winner of the World Cup competitions in London and Amsterdam and the defending champion in the World Cup. Under British rider Charlotte Fry, the stallion performed his Grand Prix with great bravado. With 78.022%, Glamourdale secured a fantastic second place.

It was an exciting battle between the two black stallions at The Dutch Masters, where it was unclear beforehand who would win. In the Grand Prix, both stallions were sometimes slightly distracted, but a day later in the Freestyle, they were both incredibly sharp. A feeling like never before
Glamourdale was the first of the two to enter the arena, and apart from a small mistake, the Van Olst Horses stallion performed brilliantly. Fry guided him through the course with great bravado, with the extended trot, extended canter, changes of lead, and his lateral movements being a delight to watch.

“Glammy felt amazing today. In some exercises, he gave a feeling like never before. It was a shame about the small mistakes, but that does mean there is still room for improvement. Who knows, maybe we can beat Justin and Zonik Plus someday,” laughed Fry. With 89.085%, she finished second by a minimal margin behind Zonik Plus (89.205%) and Verboomen.

Proud owner

How proud can you be on your horse, your rider, your trainer and your entire team around your top horses.
I did experience this feeling of ultimate pride last weekend during the International Horseshow “Jumping Amsterdam”.
Our own Lottie Fry rode a fantastic winning test with her superstar “Everdale” in the Grand Prix on Friday.
The “icing on the cake” was that this successful duo won the “World Cup” on Saturday with a personal best.
Technically, this “dream combination” has no weak points and can score (very) high on all exercises.
Both ladies, Lottie and Anne, and their “top stallion” are now entering the phase where they are working towards the “finishing touch” and the “ideal overall picture”.
It promises to be a very interesting summer, starring: the very dedicated ladies Lottie and Anne, the very talented stallions “Everdale and Glamourdale”, and the road to the “Paris 2024 Olympic Games”.
“The journey has started and I am already thoroughly enjoying it.”

Yours sincerely, Gertjan van Olst

Time to look back at the WCYH Verden

Good edition of the Van Olst Sales auction for three-year-old mares

The fourth online auction of Van Olst Sales has just ended. An auction that was dedicated to three-year-old mare’s that have all become preliminary keur at the recently held mare inspections. The most expensive in this auction was the black pearl and NMK mare Madonna T, descended from Diëgo out of an Everdale mare and then Chippendale’s grandmother. For the nice amount of € 35,000 she’s bought by a customer in England who has already bought at Van Olst Sales before. She will now be ridden first and after that she will first have her foal.

Mystery Girl and Mabel have been bought by a customer from the Netherlands and will be ridden and prepared for the IBOP test after which they can have their foal.

Malaika is leaving to Germany for € 14,000. Unfortunately, Make the Difference is not sold in this edition.
